St. George Plein Air 2025

Heading to St. George after a Colorado winter felt like stepping into a completely different world. The desert light, warm air, and red rock landscapes created an incredible environment to paint in—and it led to one of my most meaningful pieces to date.

AT A GLANCE

  • Where: St. George Art Museum — St. George, UT

  • When: April 7–12, 2025

  • Event: Plein Air Festival

  • My Role: Exhibiting Artist

  • Awards: People’s Choice Award, 2nd Best in Show

PAINTINGS FROM THE EVENT

  • The shift in environment was refreshing and inspiring. Painting in the desert required a different approach to color and value, and the intensity of the light made every decision more deliberate. The community response to the work was incredibly encouraging.

  • Eden’s Crossing became the centerpiece of the week—a piece named after a close friend’s newborn daughter. It went on to win both People’s Choice and 2nd Best in Show and was ultimately collected by the event’s executive director.
