Plein Air Steamboat 2024
This was not only my first plein air event, it was my first time painting outdoors on location! WOW, what a spectacular teacher the natural world is. From this event I deepened my appreciation for the vibrancy and immediacy of pastels as a painting medium.
I found a spectacular community in the Steamboat Arts Museum (SAM) and my fellow artists at the event. I could not have asked for a more successful event- I sold all my work and thoroughly challenged myself to grow as an artist.

PAINTINGS FROM THE EVENT
I spent plenty of time exploring the Yampa River Valley rather than painting it! The quickly changing light helped guide me to working quicker because I couldn’t let myself spend a whole day exploring without getting a painting out of it- so I set up during sunset and in awe of nature.
